The truth behind Pripyat “Creepy Man” in Chernobyl Street View

A week ago, a video was uploaded to TikTok with a “Creepy Man” in the Pripyat Post Office (Communications Centre).

On Sunday morning, this was shared by some newspapers on their websites.

Unfortunately – all is not so “creepy” or “spooky” as has been made out. The man is simply pointing a remote at his 360 degree camera, and decided to blur his face.

Zooming out slightly, you can see he is in Pripyat with a friend.

The image was taken in June 2019 by Alexander Sirota (Chairman of the Public Council at the State Agency of Ukraine for Exclusion Zone Management) and can be viewed here.

In summary, please do not worry – there are no zombies or mutated animals in Pripyat 🙂
