Government increases payments to Chernobyl disaster victims

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine reported that payments to victims of the Chernobyl disaster will increase

The agency noted that this year for social protection of those affected by the Chernobyl disaster, provided 403.5 million UAH more than last year:

Social protection of citizens affected by the Chornobyl disaster is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Social Policy.

Therefore, the total amount of allocated budget funds is UAH 2.57 billion.

The Ministry of Social Policy also reported that today in Ukraine almost 2 million people have the status of victims and are entitled to benefits. Of them:

  • 181.1 thousand – participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, including 55.6 thousand – people with disabilities; 
  • 1,534.8 thousand – victims of the Chernobyl disaster, of which 48.9 thousand – people with disabilities;
  •  322.8 thousand – children.
