The citizen of Ukraine was detained yesterday near the village of Vilcha, which was evicted as a result of the Chernobyl accident, by border guards of the Zhytomyr detachment together with customs officers
The man who entered the forbidden zone was noticed by the district inspector of the State Tax Service of Ukraine and informed the officers of the National Police Department of the Chernobyl Zone. As it turned out, a resident of Rivne region was collecting wildflowers. In total, he collected about 8 kg of berries, which are forbidden to collect in this area due to radiation pollution.
The offender will be brought to administrative responsibility by representatives of the National Police under Art. 46-1 (Violation of the requirements of the radiation safety regime in areas that have been exposed to radioactive contamination).
