Future Temple Monument in Chernobyl

Future Temple Monument in Chernobyl

On 11 November, a dome of a new small temple was installed at the territory of St. Elias Church in Chernobyl.

SSE ChNPP Technical Director Andrii Bilyk, Deputy Director General (for Regime and Physical Protection) Valentyn Viter, representatives of ChNPP Physical Protection Service and Security Unit were invited to take part in this event.

“Today is a special day – installation of a dome over a central temple of a future church “Chernobyl Wormwood. Our Lady Paramythia”.

The temple will be special, because, God willing, it is to become a monument of the Chernobyl tragedy. It will be both an Orthodox temple and a memorial of the tragedy” – noted church archpriest Father Serhii.

After the dome installation, prayer and blessing, Father Serhii thanked sincerely SSE ChNPP management and all those who was involved and provided help and support: “I am grateful to ChNPP management for the assistance and understanding and to all those who was involved. I feel in peace and happy”.
