The Chernobyl Radiation-Ecological Biosphere Reserve received the Certificate of State Certification of a Scientific Institution.
Such a high status, for which they have been working for several years, in addition to recognition and inspiration for increased development of scientific capacity and motivation for scientific work, gives many advantages.
For example, inclusion in the State Register of Scientific Institutions and, as a result, a chance to apply for state funding for scientific research works; the opportunity to join the European research space for the purpose of developing international scientific and technical cooperation, free transfer of knowledge, mobility of researchers, etc.
All this together will raise the scientific potential of the Reserve and, accordingly, increase the amount of scientific knowledge available to mankind.
On the basis of the latter, it will become possible to manage the protected area more effectively and perform the functions of the CHREBZ to preserve biotic and landscape diversity, and adapt natural complexes to climate change.
